Partner Eric Crusius will participate in a labor and employment law breakout session at the Javits-Wagner-O'Day Legal Symposium in Washington, D.C., hosted by Melwood and The George Washington University School of Law.
The symposium will bring together professionals to discuss the legal complexities, challenges and future of the AbilityOne Program (formerly known as the Javits-Wagner-O’Day (JWOD) Program), which requires government agencies to procure specified supplies and services from nonprofit suppliers that employ individuals who are blind or have other significant disabilities. It is the largest employment resource for this group, making it a necessary topic of interest for entities engages in federal contracts.
The Track A - Labor & Employment Law panel will focus on WDR/SCA wage matters; labor unions and collective bargaining issues; pitfalls of accepting charitable donations from vendors (particularly related to employee benefits); and other employment and labor law issues relevant to nonprofits in the AbilityOne Program.
