President Obama signed legislation to amend the nation's chemical safety law, the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). The amendments will update the law and create new duties and authorities for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), as well as new obligations and risks for a wide range of industries, including those that manufacture or import chemicals, consumer goods, building materials, automobiles, aircraft, computer hardware and many other items.
In this webinar, Dimitri Karakitsos of the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works joins Holland & Knight's Benjamin Dunham and Bonni Kaufman to review the most important elements of the new law. Mr. Karakitsos was the primary staff author of the new law, and Mr. Dunham was chief counsel to the late Sen. Frank R. Lautenberg (D-N.J.). Sen. Lautenberg is the namesake of the new law and was author of the bill that served as the basis for the updated chemical safety law. Bonni Kaufman practices environmental law and frequently advises clients on TSCA legal issues.
