Only a few decades ago, mercury was considered safe. It was commonly used in many household products and industrial facilities with almost no regulation because there was little awareness of the dangers of mercury. In the modern era the world’s view of this once seemingly safe material has shifted dramatically, causing fear and misunderstanding of this substance.
