Demystifying Energy Investment Disputes in Mexico through the New USMCA

The United-States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) is pending approval in Canada and the U.S., but was approved by Mexico in June. Chapter 8 of the agreement has been misinterpreted by some stakeholders to read that the USMCA has no obligations for Mexico in the hydrocarbons sector. However, their are several key provision for U.S. investors in Mexico's hydrocarbons market. Attorneys Carlos Véjar and Juan Pablo Moyano elaborate on the provisions for energy investors in their article for the October 2019 issue of Pratt’s Energy Law Report.
