Energy Transition as Energy Sovereignty
What Is at Risk Is the Diversification of the Matrix
Energy attorney Claudio Rodríguez wrote an article for El Heraldo de México about Mexico's Energy Sovereignty and how it affects the energy transition. Mr. Rodríguez explains that the country's Energy Sovereignty is not a concept recognized in the constitutional framework that governs the energy sector, but policies have been made in light of this principle. Therefore, policies, agreements and resolutions of the regulatory bodies and of the Ministry of Energy itself have been positioned to strengthen productive state companies, limiting the energy transition. Mr. Rodríguez says that as a result of this, what is really at risk is the diversification of the national energy matrix, which can lead Mexico to have a greater dependence on foreign goods and foreign geopolitical rationales.
