Reform Proposes Modifying Dismissal with Just Cause

Labor and employment attorney Camilo García published an article in Asuntos Legales about a proposal to modify the procedure for justified dismissal of an employee in Colombia. The reform proposes to implement a disciplinary process before dismissing an employee with just cause, which would protect the dignity of the worker and apply principles such as the presumption of innocence and contradiction. If the proposal is approved, Mr. García explains employers would be required to follow an internal process in each case to guarantee that the decision is fair and proportional.
