Government Shutdown Keeps Local Craft Breweries Dry

Florida craft breweries are among the many small businesses being affected by the federal government shutdown. Five breweries are in the works in Manatee and Sarasota counties, but none can open until the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau, a branch of the Treasury Department, awards them the proper permits.

"With the shutdown, we don’t know how things are going to go," said Alcohol Beverage Attorney Joshua Aubuchon, who is also the executive director of the Florida Brewers Guild.
