Beer Brewers and Distributors At Odds Over Growler Legislation

Creative Loafing Tampa

Beer brewers and distributors continue to find themselves at odds over legislation concerning 64-ounce growlers. Craft breweries want them while the Big Beer establishment has generally been opposed. Now the executive director of the Florida Beer Wholesalers Association says his concern with the 64-ounce growler is more about craft breweries selling products from other brewers via guest taps because it would make those establishment retailers who can bypass the existing system.

Alcohol Beverage Attorney Josh Aubuchon was surprised that the association wants to eliminate guest taps and he says the whole dispute is ludicrous.

“It would be great in meetings with legislators in discussing this if he would make that known,” Mr. Aubuchon said, referring to Rubin as a “master at disinformation and just throwing a whole bunch of information out there to confuse people.”
