Miami New Times Cleared In Doping Clinic Privacy Suit
A Florida circuit judge tossed claims filed by a former University of Miami coach who said the Miami New Times played a part in his firing by publishing his records from a clinic connected to performance-enhancing drugs.
Litigation Partner Sandy Bohrer, who represents the weekly newspaper, said, “I don't think they're anything remotely like medical records.” Mr. Bohrer describes the clinic as being “in essence a drug dealer operating out of an office,” although he made clear that he was not equating the substances the coach obtained to narcotics such as cocaine.
