A consortium of 34 technology companies has agreed to a "Tech Accord," that was first proposed by Microsoft Corp. in 2017, aimed at thwarting hackers and other cyber criminals – even those backed by the United States. Senior Policy Advisor Norma Krayem shared her thoughts on this "Digital Geneva Convention" for an E&E News Energywire story on the topic.
Interest in the Tech Accord shows the need for a "cohesive approach to managing global risks" and finding norms in cyberspace, said Ms. Krayem. "At this point, it's a useful discussion to have. Whether or not [the accord] is the solution to the problem is unclear."
