Glencoe News gave special recognition to Partner Steven M. Elrod's recent appointment as the Chicago Bar Association's new president. He was sworn into his new leadership position on June 21, with a celebration at Holland & Knight's Chicago office.
For many years, Mr. Elrod has represented many private sector clients and a series of suburban Chicago municipalities, including Glencoe, Northbrook, Lincolnwood, Deerfield, and Highland Park, of which he is a resident.
In his interview with Glencoe News, Mr. Elrod outlined his goals for CBA, such as addressing the ongoing problem of handgun violence in the Chicagoland, following up on general issues about the practice of law, and instituting more civic education programs in local elementary and high schools. He also discussed what he enjoys about municipal law, the impact of his family's history of public service on his career and his advice for those seeking a legal degree and profession.
"[A] law degree and law profession is well worth the time and expense involved," said Mr. Elrod. "Not only are there positions that are financially rewarding, but within the legal profession there is the ability to make positive impact on people’s lives."
