When You Get Hacked, Figuring Out Who to Call For Help Can Be a Puzzle

Partner Adam Bookbinder was quoted in CNET as he provided his insight into who to call after you get hacked. As the FBI, Homeland Security and local police have conflicting advice on who to call first, Mr. Bookbinder reviewed how each agency would respond to a hacking claim. He suggests to report the claim to the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center, but if your claim is for a small amount of money then the matter will not be taken care of right away, but if several similar cases are reported then a investigation can start.

"If the people doing it keep the dollar amounts small enough that no individual police department is going to be motivated enough to prosecute, you can collect a lot of money from a lot of people all around the world," said Mr. Bookbinder.
