Insurance Transactions and Regulatory attorney Mark Delegal was quoted in the Florida Politics article that addressed the use of genetic testing by life insurance companies. Health insurers cannot use genetic testing to fix rates, but a bill that cleared the House Insurance and Banking Subcommittee Tuesday would add life insurance and long-term care insurers to the equation. Insurance companies are concerned that fraudsters could secure insurance without disclosing important medical diseases.
Mr. Delegal, a lobbyist for one of the life insurance companies, stated he wants to avoid this disadvantage. “The concern we have is the person trying to purchase life insurance has some information we don’t know or expect,” said Mr. Delegal.
