Sri Lanka's Social Media Ban Unlikely to Hurt Companies But Could Set Precedent

Cybersecurity attorney Adam Bookbinder was quoted in an article by S&P Global Market Intelligence addressing the temporary block of social media platforms after the Sri Lanka bombings on April 21. Mr. Bookbinder discusses the relationship between a ban on these platforms and the relation to curbing violence, utilizing his experience with cyber incident response.

"When a government such as Sri Lanka takes the step of implementing a temporary ban, companies subjected to the block have little legal recourse to fight to stay online and would be better off improving its standing with governments implementing the bans," he stated.
