‘We’re Here For Them’: United Way’s Mission United Offers Veterans’ Services
Partner Stephen Moss was interviewed by the South Florida Sun Sentinel about United Way of Broward County’s Mission United. The nonprofit supports U.S. military service members, veterans and their families and has helped many individuals successfully acclimate to civilian life. Founding board member and veteran Mr. Moss has been on the frontline helping the initiative take off since its inception, spreading the program’s services to other places around the country.
"We’ve set up six pillars of service: housing support, employment services, education, legal assistance, healthcare and financial stability," said Mr. Moss. "We have a case management system; there are two full-time case managers at United Way. There’s one number to call to reach Mission United and we partnered with 211 Broward so they answer the Mission United hotline 24 hours a day every day."
