Outgoing Ga. Appeals Court Chief Is Eager For Presiding Role

Law360

Appellate Team Chair Laurie Webb Daniel spoke with Law360 about Georgia's outgoing Court of Appeals Chief Judge Christopher J. McFadden. Judge McFadden will step down on July 1, 2021, after a two-year term, and current Vice Chief Judge Brian M. Rickman will take his place. Ms. Daniel complimented Judge McFadden, saying that he demonstrated good perspective and ensured the court's rules were up to date, and added that she has confidence in Judge Rickman. She also said that she expects a smooth transition, given that projects not finished during one chief judge's term tend to be continued in the next.

"In recent times I've seen a lot more collaboration and coordination on the internal workings of the court that I didn't see back 20 years ago," she explained.
