As Companies Process More and More Data, They Must Think Like a Tech Company
Data strategy attorney Glynna Christian was quoted in a Corporate Counsel article discussing legal concerns for companies as they increase their use and storage of data. Businesses across all industries are facing new regulatory requirements related to data collection, and general counsel should take care to ensure compliance with state, federal and international laws. Ms. Christian commented that even companies not traditionally viewed as "technology" companies need to approach compliance like a tech company. Her remarks were taken from Holland & Knight's "Why Every Company Is Now a Technology Company" program that took place on May 18, 2022.
"They're a tech company, whether they want to be or not," she said. "[Even if] you think you're in an industry that's not traditionally technical, you're a tech company now."
