Trump, Harris Likely to Pursue Different CFIUS Approaches to Achieve Common Goal: Confronting China

The Capital Forum

International Trade attorney Antonia Tzinova was quoted in The Capitol Forum, exploring how a second Trump Administration or new Harris Administration would approach China. Ms. Tzinova suggested that, if re-elected, President Donald Trump would continue his stance toward China, without drastic changes from his first term. She commented on how the administration would work with the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) to address national security threats and favor U.S. investors. She also speculated that legislative proposals from conservative circles, such as incorporating the U.S. Department of Agriculture into the CFIUS assessment panel or broadening CFIUS' scope to include certain greenfield investments, might materialize, depending on which party controls Congress.

"If President Trump were to win another term, we anticipate continuity rather than a radical change from his first term, including maintaining his anti-China rhetoric," she said.
