School of Law to Host Acclaimed Civil Discourse Program

University of Miami School of Law

Litigation attorney Andrew Loewenstein was quoted in an article published by the University of Miami School of Law about the "Civil Discourse & Difficult Decisions" program, a cornerstone of Miami Law's professionalism initiative bringing first-year students into a courtroom setting to practice advocacy, deliberation and respectful dialogue alongside federal judges, lawyers and faculty. The article highlighted the program's origins in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, its expansion from Duke Law to Miami Law and its focus on civility, effective communication and the rule of law as essential skills for future attorneys. Mr. Loewenstein, who will co-facilitate the event and has helped lead similar ones across the country, emphasized how the program accelerates professional growth for aspiring lawyers.

"It is an honor to return to Miami Law to facilitate Civil Discourse and Difficult Decisions, which provides a half-day interactive experience that models effective advocacy through civil discourse and civility," he said. "Mastering these skills is a hallmark of the most effective practitioners and is fundamental to the success of Miami Law's next generation of legal leaders."
