MIAMI – October 1, 2013 – Holland & Knight is proud to announce that Litigation Partner Brett Barfield was elected 11th Circuit vice president of the Federal Bar Association (FBA). During his two-year term, Mr. Barfield will serve as a liaison between the FBA in Washington, D.C. and its Alabama, Georgia, and Florida chapters.
The FBA consists of more than 16,000 federal lawyers, including 1,200 federal judges, who work together to promote the sound administration of justice and integrity, quality and independence of the federal judiciary. The FBA leadership structure has two vice presidents for each of the 12 Federal Judicial Circuits, who serve under the national FBA president.
Mr. Barfield is the immediate past president of the Federal Bar Association's South Florida Chapter and has served on its board of directors since 2008. He was also recently appointed a vice chair of The Florida Bar's Federal Court Practice Committee.
Mr. Barfield practices in the area of business litigation with an emphasis on domestic and international commercial disputes, construction litigation, and disputes under the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction. He has been recognized by Florida Super Lawyers and Florida Trend magazines as a leading business litigation attorney in Florida.
