Stephen Moss Receives The Florida Bar President's Pro Bono Service Award for 2014
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (February 3, 2014) - Holland & Knight is pleased to announce that Stephen Moss, a partner in the firm's Fort Lauderdale office, received The Florida Bar President's Pro Bono Service Award for 2014 during a ceremony at the Supreme Court of Florida in Tallahassee on Jan. 30.
Each year The Florida Bar honors one attorney from each judicial circuit statewide for outstanding efforts in making legal representation available to those otherwise unable to afford it. Mr. Moss was chosen as the winner for the 17th Judicial Circuit.
Mr. Moss currently serves as chairman of the advisory committee of Mission United, a collaboration between the United Way of Broward County and the American Red Cross. The program supports U.S. military service members, veterans and their families in Broward County by helping them adjust to civilian life. In this role, Mr. Moss spent more than 550 pro bono hours in 2013 getting the program off to a good start. It has been his task to galvanize community support and create a structured system of public and private services in the areas of employment, healthcare, housing, education and legal matters.
In addition to receiving The Florida Bar President's award, Mr. Moss was recently honored by the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce with its Hall of Fame Honoree Award for his years of service to the Chamber and outstanding efforts in building Mission United.
Mr. Moss practices in the areas of real property development law, hotel development and operations, title insurance and business law. He has an admirable history of service to the community. His past leadership roles include: chair of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce; co-founder/co-chair of the Broward Child Welfare Initiative; board of directors of Legal Aid Service of Broward County, Inc.; Development Partnership Council of the South Florida Wildlife Center; and board of directors of the Broward County Chapter of the Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association.
