Former General Counsel Toni Nguyen Joins Holland & Knight in Austin
AUSTIN, Texas (September 11, 2018) – Toni Nguyen, the former senior vice president and general counsel of cloud-based software company Upland Software, Inc., has joined Holland & Knight as senior counsel in the Corporate, Mergers and Acquisitions and Securities Practice Group. Prior to joining Upland, Ms. Nguyen served as a senior-level in-house attorney at Luminex Corporation, Belo Corp. and Travelocity.com. She also worked as an attorney at Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich (now DLA Piper) and Vinson & Elkins.
Ms. Nguyen brings more than 20 years of legal experience, including 15 years serving as in-house counsel advising executives and a wide range of business stakeholders in the online travel and retail, medical device and biotech, media, and cloud-based software industries.
While at Upland, she led the company’s legal department in handling and managing its commercial and technology transactions, IP portfolio, litigation, compliance and corporate governance practices. She also assisted in merger and acquisition matters. At Holland & Knight, she will focus her practice on technology transfers and intellectual property licensing, electronic commerce and information technology, intellectual property law, general commercial transactions, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and data security and privacy.

Ms. Nguyen is very active in the State Bar of Texas and currently serves as a council member of the Corporate Counsel Section. She has previously served in various diversity-related leadership roles, including as a minority director for the board of directors for the State Bar of Texas, chair of the Asian-American Pacific Interest Section, and director of the Dallas Asian-American Bar Association.

Ms. Nguyen received a J.D. degree from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law and a Bachelor of Journalism degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
