PHILADELPHIA/NEW YORK (October 2, 2018) – Senior mergers and acquisitions lawyer Howard Shecter has joined Holland & Knight as of counsel in the firm's Philadelphia and New York offices. Mr. Shecter is internationally recognized for his wide-ranging M&A experience and his extensive background advising clients on corporate governance and board oversight matters. Most recently, he practiced at Reed Smith.

Mr. Shecter focuses his practice on a variety of domestic and international business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions (negotiated and hostile), joint ventures and strategic alliances, as well as corporate governance issues and the negotiated resolution of business disputes. He lectures regularly at leading global conferences on issues related to M&A, corporate law and governance and has frequently served as a board member for both public and private companies.

Mr. Shecter received a J.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and an A.B. degree cum laude from Harvard College. He previously served as president of the University of Pennsylvania Law Alumni Society, a member of the advisory board of the University of Pennsylvania Institute for Law and Economics, and president of the Harvard Club of Philadelphia. He also was a trustee of the Philadelphia Bar Foundation and a director of the Greater Philadelphia Urban Affairs Coalition and Community Legal Services of Philadelphia.
