ORLANDO, Fla. (November 20, 2018) – Holland & Knight Partner Jim Seay received the Orlando Business Journal's Corporate Philanthropist of the Year Award for 2018 during an event in Orlando on November 16.
Each year the Orlando Business Journal recognizes Central Florida companies, organizations and individuals that best integrate support of social or charitable causes into their workplace cultures and have made significant professional contributions to those in the area.
Mr. Seay was honored for his work in building a task force to fight human trafficking, a crime for which Florida has the third highest rate in the nation. Mr. Seay is one of six founding members of the Greater Orlando Human Trafficking Task Force, which was created to combat modern day slavery and human trafficking and to empower the survivors through prevention, protection, prosecution and partnership.
Prior to Mr. Seay's involvement, there was no organized effort in Central Florida to fight human trafficking. "There were lots of groups interested in anti-trafficking, but they were not talking to each other,"" Mr. Seay told the Orlando Business Journal.
Mr. Seay practices in the area of commercial real estate law, with particular emphasis on the representation of developers of commercial, mixed-use and residential projects, and acquisition and disposition of income-producing properties. He is consistently recognized as a leading real estate lawyer by The Best Lawyers in America, Chambers USA and Super Lawyers legal guides.
