Alison K Brown is a commercial litigation attorney who has worked on a wide variety of significant litigation involving civil Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), fraud, employment-based negligence claims, government investigations, wrongful death, shareholder rights lawsuits and investor claims.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Ms. Brown served as a career law clerk to the Honorable Kenneth L. Ryskamp in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. She also worked in the public sector as an assistant attorney general arguing cases before the Missouri Courts of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Missouri.

In the community, Ms. Brown serves on the advisory board of the World Affairs Council of Palm Beach, an organization that promotes understanding of the world through people-to-people diplomacy, distinguished speakers and educational outreach programs. She is deeply involved in pro bono service, particularly with the Legal Aid Society, where she took a one-year sabbatical to represent victims of domestic violence.


  • Successfully defended one of the world's largest waterworks companies against federal and state Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) claims brought by a market competitor seeking significant damages for alleged violations related to a government preference  program
  • Defended one of the largest security services businesses in the United States against wrongful death and various employment-based negligence allegations related to an employee's off-duty commission of domestic terrorism
  • Successfully resolved potential litigation against a leading global financial services firm with more than $2 trillion in assets involving wrongful death and various employment-based negligence allegations related to an employee's off-duty criminal conduct
  • Represented one of the country’s largest retail advertising agencies in responding to a government subpoena related to allegations of potential corruption against a former employee
  • Successfully represented an industry-leading mortgage servicer and a major commercial bank in aggressive and high-value residential and commercial foreclosure litigation by negotiating meaningful settlements or winning litigation at summary judgment or trial
  • Conducted an internal investigation for a major cruise line in connection with misconduct allegations against an executive
  • Assisting various clients with responding to subpoenas and preparing for trial testimony as a fact witness, including an incident involving potential foreign espionage at a prominent South Florida resort
  • Advocating for clients before the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)
  • Represented a local government in an action filed against the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) regarding status as a sanctuary city 
  • Obtained a jury verdict in a pro bono matter against a fraudulent landlord who failed to maintain a safe and livable environment, awarding tenants more than $45,000 in damages
  • Settled an excessive force and negligent hiring, retention and training claim against a South Florida law enforcement agency and obtained a settlement amount above the statutory maximum
  • Obtained a permanent injunction against a former employee who threatened violence against a member of management and her family
