Rabi Fiotto is a Boston intellectual property attorney and is a member of Holland & Knight's Intellectual Property Group. Mr. Fiotto focuses his practices on understanding high-tech businesses and navigating the legal challenges they present, particularly in the areas of patent, trade secret and copyright law.
Prior to entering the legal profession, Mr. Fiotto worked as a mechanical engineer for many years, predominantly in the fields of robotics, communication and sensor technology. Mr. Fiotto was a consultant for many of those years, providing services primarily for defense contractors, manufacturers of consumer goods and industrial robotics. His contributions included machine design, design for manufacturability, test method and test bed development, programming of analytic tools and finite element analysis for structural and electromagnetic performance. In his time as an engineer, Mr. Fiotto was intimately involved with all aspects of product development, from generating concept and designs, through validation, manufacturing and post-sale support.
During law school, Mr. Fiotto was an editor on the Journal of Science and Technology Law, where his research focused on the effects of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, both for companies who produce durable goods with integrated consumer systems, and for their consumers. Mr. Fiotto also participated in the school's Entrepreneurship and Intellectual Property Clinic, where he assisted inventors with issues including corporate formation, distribution of equity and disputed rights to intellectual property.
