Overview

Rachelle "Shelley" Glazer is a litigation attorney in Holland & Knight's Dallas office. Ms. Glazer focuses her federal and state trial practice on complex business and contract disputes, including oil and gas and energy business disputes, as well as insurance contract disputes.

Ms. Glazer has experience representing clients in numerous business disputes with multimillion-dollar claims. She is adept at utilizing summary judgment, mediation, arbitration and trial skills to achieve the greatest impact for her clients. She also has extensive knowledge of insurance issues such as coverage analysis, agent misrepresentation and insurance programs.

In addition, Ms. Glazer has served as national coordinating counsel for royalty cases for one of the largest natural gas producers in the U.S.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Ms. Glazer spent her full career as a litigation attorney for a Texas-based law firm. During law school, she was the managing editor of the Southwestern Law Journal.

  • Obtained a unanimous multimillion-dollar arbitration trial award from a three-member arbitration panel for a royalty trust, concerning whether an underlying settlement was a production cost and could be charged to the trust under the governing contracts
  • Obtained successful settlement for a steel manufacturer after five days of jury trial testimony in a case against its insurer to recover multimillion-dollar business interruption losses; U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, Galveston Division
  • Represented an energy company in an arbitration trial to defend a claim concerning the meaning and calculation of "completion" costs to be carried by the company; Judge Joe Hart, arbitrator, in Fort Worth, Texas
  • Represented individual oil and gas investors against an oil and gas company in jury trial to obtain a declaration of millions of dollars of ownership rights in property in Colorado, District Court of Dallas County, Texas, 101st Judicial District
  • Represented an electrical contractor in jury trial involving the destruction of a large home and its contents by fire, in which plaintiffs claimed that an electrical circuit breaker started the fire; District Court of Dallas County, Texas, 193rd Judicial District
  • Represented a law firm and its corporate lawyers in jury trial for legal malpractice, involving a movie investment that did not materialize; District Court of Dallas County, Texas, 134th Judicial District
  • Jointly represented a patio door lock manufacturer in strict liability jury trial involving a young woman who was murdered after an assailant penetrated the lock on the patio door; District Court of Tarrant County, Texas, 348th Judicial District
  • Represented the excess insurance company defendant in declaratory judgment action involving the enforceability of a substantial “sweetheart settlement” between the insured and the plaintiff arising out of an aviation accident; U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, Houston Division

  • Represented a large oil and gas company to obtain indemnity from its insurer for seven lawsuits involving bodily injury and property damage arising out of a pipeline leak
  • Represented an oil and gas company in federal and state court in its indemnity claim as an additional insured against the contractor’s insurers and against the contractor pursuant to its indemnity contract
  • Represented a floor coating company to recover from its insurer defense and indemnity payments in a liability lawsuit when the insurer applied the wrong state’s law
  • Represented a steel company in a claim against its insurer for product liability coverage arising from pipeline failure
  • Represented an original equipment computer manufacturer against a computer component supplier in state court to recover a significant overpayment
  • Represented an agricultural equipment manufacturer in an arbitration arising out of a commercial energy contract dispute
  • Represented a food manufacturer in federal court against its property insurer to recover lost profits from a business interruption caused by contamination of their products
  • Represented an excess insurer in an insurance contract dispute with its insured and primary carrier in federal court concerning an indemnity claim for the settlement of a nursing home case
  • Represented an employee leasing company in state court case brought by its workers’ compensation insurer to recover supplemental premium after termination of the policy
  • Represented city insured in negotiations with its medical insurer, who was demanding extra premium from the city
  • Represented an automobile insurer in extra-contractual (“bad-faith”) lawsuits
  • Represented a manufacturer and premises defendant in asbestos cases throughout Texas
  • Represented an excess insurer for coverage analysis and in coverage litigation after a large verdict in underlying litigation
