Overview

Nadia Haghighatian is a litigation attorney in Holland & Knight's Dallas office and member of the firm's Intellectual Property Group. Ms. Haghighatian focuses her practice on patent litigation, representing clients with matters involving various technologies, including software, telecommunications, electrical, mechanical and semiconductor technologies. She has experience with formulating opinions on noninfringement and invalidity, licensing and preparing patent portfolios for enforcement. In addition, Ms. Haghighatian has represented clients in matters involving trademarks, trade secrets, unfair competition and contract disputes.

Representative Experience

  • Represented a global semiconductor and infrastructure technology company in patent litigation involving semiconductor device fabrication
  • Defended a global electronics and semiconductor company in various patent infringement lawsuits relating to, for example, capacitive touch screen technologies, metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET) devices, automatic gain control systems and signal encoding/decoding systems
  • Assisted a semiconductor developer in organizing and categorizing a large portfolio of U.S. and foreign patents and applications for valuation and licensing

  • Asserted a technology company's claims against major consumer electronics companies in multiple, parallel patent infringement lawsuits involving 10 patents relating to mobile technologies for battery life conservation, digital content distribution and authentication
  • Represented a global semiconductor and infrastructure technology company in patent litigation involving 15 patents, including patents relating to audio and video encoding and decoding, optimized graphics processing and wireless communication systems
  • Asserted a patent owner's claims in an infringement lawsuit relating to accelerated erasure coding for data storage in distributed computing systems
  • Defended a major airline in several patent infringement actions relating to customer rewards programs, message storage and delivery, website search functionalities and mobile applications
  • Defended an air travel company in a patent infringement action involving a meta-search engine for comparing airfare pricing information
  • Defended a national jewelry retailer against trade secret misappropriation and breach of contract claims relating to software for tracking warranty repairs

  • Defended an international oilfield service company in a patent infringement action relating to electric rig control systems; obtained settlement after a favorable claim-construction ruling
  • Represented an oil and gas exploration company in a trade secret misappropriation lawsuit relating to methods and formulas for identifying profitable acreage
  • Defended a major manufacturer of off-road vehicles for mine sites against claims of patent infringement and false advertising

  • Asserted the senior trademark rights of a technology credit union service organization (CUSO) against a major competitor in federal district court and before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB)
  • Asserted a specialty chain retail company's well-known family of trademarks relating to organization and storage products and services; obtained settlement including client's primary requested relief
