Martha Harris is a real estate attorney in Holland & Knight’s Dallas office, where she represents interim and permanent lenders in connection with financings secured by or involving real estate, including retail, office and multifamily projects, with an emphasis on senior housing projects and medical office buildings (both on and off hospital campuses). She also regularly represents lenders in loan workouts, foreclosures and creditors' rights actions.

Ms. Harris counsels clients with respect to real estate projects, including the preparation and negotiation of purchase and sale agreements, listing agreements, management agreements, leases and loan documents. In addition, she performs due diligence involving title reports, ground leases, surveys, zoning and other matters affecting real estate.

She is “extremely customer-centric, solution-driven, and effective at bringing good compromises to the table,” according to clients quoted by Chambers USA.

  • Represented senior housing lenders in connection with multistate financings — both project and facility financing
  • Represented a lender in connection with a loan workout matter from forbearance to receivership to bankruptcy to foreclosure
  • Represented a lender in connection with a loan providing working capital for the pumping of methane gas from a landfill
  • Represented a lender in connection with a portfolio of mezzanine loans secured by various ownership interests related to skilled nursing facilities
  • Represented a publicly traded company in the sale of its existing headquarters and purchase of its new headquarters
  • Represented a lender in creating a loan seller/servicer program
  • Represented multiple lenders in connection with the ground lease financing of medical office buildings
  • Represented a conduit loan originator in the creation, warehousing and selling of loans
