Morris H. Miller has more than 35 years of experience in business and healthcare law. A member of Holland & Knight's Corporate and Mergers & Acquisitions Practice Group and the firm's National Healthcare & Life Sciences industry team, Mr. Miller is a Florida Bar Board Certified Health Law attorney who focuses his practice primarily on transactional and regulatory matters within the healthcare and senior living industries. Mr. Miller initially joined Holland & Knight in 1979, and from 1989 until 2001, he served as chair of the firm's Healthcare & Life Sciences team. In 2013 and 2014, Mr. Miller served as president and CEO of a Holland & Knight client engaged in the operation of nursing and rehabilitation facilities and the provision of assisted living, nursing, rehabilitation, and post-acute care services throughout Florida. He returned to Holland & Knight on January 1, 2015.
Mr. Miller has substantial experience representing owners, developers, and operators of healthcare and senior living facilities, including nursing homes, assisted living facilities, independent living facilities, continuing care retirement communities, hospitals, physician groups, medical and diagnostic clinics and others. He has structured, negotiated and documented numerous acquisitions, dispositions, financings, and other transactions and business arrangements involving such facilities and businesses. Mr. Miller is also experienced in handling legal matters involving federal and state "anti-kickback," "Stark," and patient self-referral laws; Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement issues; health facility licensure and other healthcare regulatory issues; and various kinds of contracts for senior living facilities, healthcare facilities and medical practices.
