Michael Obeiter is a senior public affairs advisor in Holland & Knight's Washington, D.C., office and a member of the firm's Public Policy & Regulation Group. Mr. Obeiter is highly experienced in energy, environment, natural resources, and climate policy and regulation matters, as well as the federal budget and appropriations processes.
Mr. Obeiter has more than five years of experience working in Congress. Most recently, he served as Energy & Climate Advisor to Sen. Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii), where he oversaw the senator's legislative and appropriations portfolio for all matters pertaining to energy, environment, natural resources and climate change. Previously, Mr. Obeiter served as an analyst for the U.S. Senate Committee on the Budget, where he handled the budget functions for energy and environment.
Between these stints, Mr. Obeiter was a Senior Associate at the World Resources Institute, where his research and writing touched on issues pertaining to power plant emissions, carbon pricing, and methane emissions from oil and gas operations. He has also worked as a Senior Environmental Markets Analyst for World Energy Solutions (now part of EnerNOC), and as an Associate for ICF International.
