Scott W. Petersen is an intellectual property attorney in Holland & Knight's Chicago office. Mr. Petersen has extensive experience in counseling, licensing, protecting and litigating trademarks and copyrights in the United States and around the world. He offers his foreign services through a dependable network of associate firms in more than 180 countries. His clients include multinational corporations with large inventories of foreign and domestic trademarks.

Mr. Petersen began his career as an Assistant State's Attorney in  Cook County in the Criminal Appeals Division and the Felony Trial Division. Thereafter, he served for eight years as CEO of Chicago Paper Tube & Can Company – the oldest manufacturer of paper tubes, cores and composite cans in the United States. Mr. Petersen has been actively involved in legal issues relating to institutional archives and manuscript collections as a member of the Society of American Archivists and The Manuscript Society, for which he served as president for two years.

Mr. Petersen serves clients using his foreign language skills as needed. He has spoken and written extensively on the subject of intellectual property.
