Overview

Avery Rux is a real estate attorney in Holland & Knight's Portland office and a member of the firm's West Coast Real Estate Practice Group. Mr. Rux focuses his practice on a variety of real estate matters, including acquisitions and dispositions, capital markets transactions, development and construction, equity investments and joint ventures, real estate finance, litigation, and restructuring and reorganization.

In addition, Mr. Rux has experience drafting joint venture agreements, limited liability company agreements, purchase and sale agreements, hotel management agreements, and food and beverage agreements. He has prepared loan agreements and ancillary documents for real estate financings, including mortgage loans, mezzanine loans and preferred equity financings.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Rux was an associate in the real estate and hospitality department of an international law firm.

During law school, Mr. Rux was a legal extern at the California Governor's Office of Planning and Research, a member of Ecology Law Quarterly and a teaching assistant in Berkeley Law's Legal Research and Writing Program (LRW). He also worked as a research assistant on a study assessing the effects of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and local entitlement processes on housing affordability in California.
