Overview

Maxwell N. Shaffer is an associate in Holland & Knight's Denver office. Mr. Shaffer practices in the area of litigation and has experience in all stages of state and federal court proceedings from hearings, depositions and motions practice, to trial. Mr. Shaffer has represented clients in trial courts as well as courts of appeal on tort, premises liability, personal injury, contract and employment law claims.

Mr. Shaffer's practice focuses primarily on representing and advising hospitality providers.  He has defended clients against claims involving recreational injuries, food and beverage services, premises liability and personal injury. Additionally, Mr. Shaffer has defended employers against claims for wrongful termination, breach of employment contract, and in wage and hour disputes. Mr. Shaffer also has experience representing individuals in personal injury matters.

Currently, Mr. Shaffer serves as coach of the University of Denver's undergraduate mock trial team. He has also coached mock trial teams at the high school and law school levels.
