Thomas "TJ" Story is a senior public affairs advisor in Holland & Knight's Washington, D.C., office and a member of the firm's Public Policy & Regulation Group. Mr. Story focuses his practice primarily on policy issues related to transportation and technology.
With nearly a decade of collective experience in politics, Mr. Story develops and executes strategies to drive legislation, regulation and executive action. He also has experience in coalition building and strategic communications.
Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Story served as a legislative assistant to Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), on matters before the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation during the development of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and various authorizing bills, including the U.S. Innovation and Competition Act, Coast Guard Authorization Act of 2019 and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Reauthorization Act of 2018. He also advised the senator on issues related to labor, trade, natural disasters and homeland security. Through this work, Mr. Story developed policy initiatives and legislation on issues impacting various modes of transportation and advised stakeholders on the guidelines of newly established COVID-19-related federal programs.
Mr. Story began his policy career on Capitol Hill as an intern in the offices of then-Rep. Christopher S. Murphy (D-Conn.) and Rep. Jim Himes (D-Conn.), where he gained a keen understanding of the workings of Congress. In addition, he served as an intern for former Gov. Deval Patrick (D-Mass.) and on the campaigns of Sen. Christopher Murphy and former Sen. Mark Udall (D-Colo.).
