Cory Thomas is a Philadelphia-based attorney who focuses his practice on the defense of a full range of employment, employee benefit, executive compensation and ERISA litigation matters. Mr. Thomas represents Fortune 500 companies, plan sponsors, insurers, plan administrative and investment committees, corporate directors, other individual plan fiduciaries, privately held businesses, benefit plans, plan administrators, officers, directors, executives and third-party administrators. Mr. Thomas has significant experience defending employers, health and welfare benefit plans, and qualified and nonqualified plans.
Mr. Thomas also counsels employee relations and human resources professionals and is known for his results-driven, practical approach to solving complex matters. He advises clients on internal investigations, wage and hour issues, restrictive covenants, benefit claims and appeals, breach of fiduciary duty claims, Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) issues, retaliation or discrimination claims (including under Section 510 of ERISA), compensation plans, reductions in force and benefits-related issues.
In addition, Mr. Thomas has experience representing clients in plan audits and other Internal Revenue Service (IRS) or U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) investigations. Mr. Thomas also provides guidance on issues involving Section 16 of the Securities Exchange Act and related rules.
