Sally Vastola is a Washington, D.C., senior policy advisor with Holland & Knight's Public Policy & Regulation Group. Ms. Vastola works with attorneys across the firm, advising clients on legislative and regulatory policies in various areas, including tax, international trade, healthcare, financial services and energy.
During her career on Capitol Hill, Ms. Vastola served as chief of staff for Rep. Thomas Reynolds (R-N.Y.) for all five of his terms. In this capacity, she worked closely with the members and staff of the U.S. House of Representatives, as well as the House Committee on Ways and Means. Ms. Vastola also was chief of staff for Reynolds during his time in the New York State Assembly, including his tenure as Republican leader from 1995 to 1998. In this position, she oversaw more than 250 employees.
In addition, Ms. Vastola previously served as executive director and chief operating officer of the National Republican Congressional Committee, managing the organization's strategy, budget and daily operations. She also successfully created a bipartisan caucus for the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA), engaging both sides of the aisle to advocate for NEDA and raise awareness of the scope and severity of eating disorders.
Outside of the workplace, Ms. Vastola is a member of the Junior League of Buffalo, New York. She previously served as the league's state public affairs chair and directed its Woman-to-Woman pilot program, which has since become a national model for helping women cope with dual addictions to drugs and alcohol. Ms. Vastola is a graduate of Leadership Buffalo, which unites leaders from diverse backgrounds and seeks to increase their knowledge of community issues, broaden their vision and enhance their leadership abilities.
