Chicago Man's Tweet About Widow of Navy SEAL Killed in Yemen Costs Him Job

The man who was fired over a tweet criticizing the wife of a Navy SEAL killed in action and praised by President Donald Trump might be able to take his former employer to court. Labor and Employment attorney Phillip Schreiber weighed in on the issue.
"Generally speaking, what people say on social media that is not related their employer usually is not a concern of the employer," said Mr. Schreiber. "The question is ... if an employee is terminated for what he or she put on Twitter on his or her own time ... is terminating someone because of that a violation of Illinois' Right to Privacy in the Workplace Act."
