Scott Mason, Member of Trump Transition Team and Original Washington Campaign Staffer, to Join Holland & Knight

WASHINGTON (January 17, 2017) – Scott D. Mason, a member of President-elect Donald J. Trump's transition team, will join Holland & Knight as a senior policy advisor in the firm's Washington, D.C., office on January 30. Mr. Mason also was one of the original members of President-elect Trump's Washington campaign team, serving as director of congressional relations.

"I've worked with Scott since my first term in Congress and his relationships in both the House and Senate, and now in the administration, will be a huge asset for him," said Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.). "Scott's experience on the Trump campaign and the president-elect's transition team, coupled with his years of experience running a government affairs shop in corporate America, will serve him well in his new role."

"Scott played a key role in helping us build a strong and effective Trump Caucus in the House of Representatives. This influential group of members will be vital in helping the new Trump Administration meet its legislative priorities," said Rep. Chris Collins (R-N.Y.), chairman of the Trump Congressional Caucus. "His perseverance and commitment to the president-elect's cause was essential during the campaign and will serve Scott well in his new role. I know members of the Trump Caucus appreciate his efforts, value his friendship and look forward to continue working with him."

"The changes in policies, laws and regulations being considered by the new administration in Washington will impact our clients in a variety of industries," said Steven Sonberg, Holland & Knight managing partner. "Scott will be a great asset to them as they assess what these changes could mean for the health and future of their businesses and develop the appropriate strategies to have a voice on the issues that are important to them."

"Scott has served in senior public and government affairs roles for more than 25 years and is highly respected by members of Congress," said Kathryn Lehman, Holland & Knight's chief Republican lobbyist. "His experience on the Trump transition team and strong relationships with Republicans on the Hill will prove invaluable to our clients."

"Holland & Knight is one of the top lobbying and law firms in Washington, well known for its strong bipartisan team of lawyers and professionals," said Mr. Mason. "There will be many critical issues front and center before federal policymakers as the Trump Administration takes the reins of power, and I look forward to helping my new colleagues advocate persuasively on behalf of clients in a changed political climate."

From 2005-2015, Mr. Mason led the local, state and federal government affairs program for home improvement retailer Lowe's Companies, Inc., representing the Fortune 50 company on issues involving trade, healthcare, energy, labor and financial services. He also has grassroots, government affairs and public affairs experience with several major trade associations and other large corporations including Anheuser-Busch, Samsung North America, USAA, the Beer Institute and the American Medical Association. In addition, he spent two years in Sofia, Bulgaria, developing democratic opposition parties in preparation for free elections following the fall of communism.
