A Holland & Knight multi-office team, representing nominated executors of the contested last Will and Testament for "reluctant heiress" Huguette Clark, led the settlement of the estate after more than two years of contest and alleged undue influence by those close to the reclusive woman who left an estate of more than $300 million when she died at age 104.
When faced with a $25 million dispute over which trust should pay certain estate taxes and other expenses, a large trust turned to Holland & Knight's highly experienced trusts and estates lawyers. The Superior Court ruled in our favor and ordered the other trust to pay all of the items at issue.
Holland & Knight obtained a $2.8 million stipulated judgment for actor Mickey Rooney in an elder abuse lawsuit against his stepson, who was accused of misappropriating millions of dollars while he controlled the aging actor's financial affairs. After Rooney's death, the firm successfully defended his will against challenges by his estranged wife and children.
