Overview

Kristen Stevenson Cassetta is a member of the Business Law Section in Holland & Knight's Boston office. Ms. Cassetta practices in the areas of business and tax law with a primary focus in equity financing for affordable housing projects eligible for federal low-income housing tax credits, state and local tax credits, and federal and state historic rehabilitation tax credits. Since joining the firm in 2005, she has represented tax credit syndicators, lenders, developers, sponsors of affordable housing investments funds, and institutional and private investors.

Ms. Cassetta has extensive experience in affordable housing tax credit projects, including low-income multifamily and elderly housing projects, assisted living developments, housing preservation and other affordable housing programs such as HOME, HOPE VI, CDBG and HUD 202 programs. She has assisted clients in the structuring and closing of numerous direct equity investments, private placements, and guaranteed, credit-enhanced and non-guaranteed proprietary funds. Additionally, she has significant experience combining tax credit equity with HOPE VI and other mixed finance programs for public housing, as well as combining renewable energy credits and federal and state historic tax credits with federal and state low-income housing tax credits. Ms. Cassetta also has experience in all aspects of tax-advantaged investment portfolio management, advising clients regarding contract interpretation and pre-litigation enforcement, management company and general partner removals, negotiations with lenders and governmental agencies in connection with foreclosure actions, refinancings and loan workout agreements, and the sale or other disposition of aged assets.
