Holland & Knight's Native American Law Group is committed to keeping you up-to-date on the latest developments in federal Indian law, federal procurement, policy and regulatory matters that move Indian Country and its enterprises forward. Ten of our team members will be present at important conferences and gatherings in September.

September 5-7  |  NCAIED 2017 Northwest Enterprise Development Conference

Three team members will be speaking at the National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development's (NCAIED) 2017 Northwest Enterprise Development Conference at the Tulalip Resort Casino in Tulalip, Wash.

On September 6, Holland & Knight's Native American Law Practice Group Leader James Meggesto, Tax Partner Kathleen Nilles and Associate Sarah Curtis will present on a panel titled, "Choosing the Right Structure for Tribal Enterprises, Section 17 Corps and Native 8(a) entities."

September 11-12  |  Law Seminars International Conference

Members of our Native American Law Group, as well as our West Coast Land Use and Environment Group leader, will participate at a Law Seminars International conference in San Francisco, Calif. This two-day program will address Climate Change and Energy in California.

On September 11, Partner Tara Kaushik, who is serving as the program's co-chair, will provide the conference's introduction. Later in the day, Senior Policy Advisor Beth Viola will speak on a panel titled, "Update on the Transition in Federal Climate Change Policy."

On September 12, Partner Jennifer Hernandez will speak on a panel titled, "Avoiding Legal Quagmires: Commerce Clause Issues for Participation in Sub-National State and Regional Activities Contrary to Federal Environmental and Energy Policy." In the afternoon, Ms. Kaushik will speak on a panel titled, "The Role of Offsets and Carbon Credit Transactions."

Our Native American Law Group will be in attendance at the National Congress of American Indians' (NCAI) Tribal Unity Impact Days 2017 in Washington, D.C.

September 12-14  |  National Intertribal Tax Alliance 2017 Conference

Three team members will attend the National Intertribal Tax Alliance 2017 Conference at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Conn.

On September 13, Tax Partner Kathleen Nilles will speak on a panel titled, "Federal Indian Tax Reform: Legislative Efforts."

September 25-28  |  NIHB's 2017 National Tribal Health Conference

Partner Nicole Elliott will represent the Native American Law Group at the National Indian Health Board's 2017 National Tribal Health Conference in Bellevue, Wash.

On September 27, Ms. Elliott will present on a panel titled, "The Impact of Healthcare Reform on Indian Country."
