Government Contracts Lawyer Robert Tompkins Joins Holland & Knight

WASHINGTON, D.C. (January 30, 2014) - Government contracts lawyer Robert (Bob) Tompkins has joined the Washington, D.C., office of Holland & Knight as a partner. Mr. Tompkins provides strategic counsel to companies that have or are seeking government contracts. He also advises investors in these firms. Mr. Tompkins was formerly chair of the government contracts group at Patton Boggs.

Mr. Tompkins also has extensive experience in handling government contracts-related dispute, including bet-the-company bid protests. He served as lead counsel in a series of closely watched bid protests, currently pending decision before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. This matter, CMS et al versus HUD, has been cited by legal industry watchers as a significant case to monitor in 2014. Mr. Tompkins also provides government contracts due diligence counsel in mergers, acquisitions and financings of government contractors.

Mr. Tompkins has done a considerable amount of work in matters related to the U.S. Small Business Administration government contracting programs with a particular focus on assisting Alaska Native Corporations and Indian tribes. He also has assisted clients with internal investigations and audits conducted by the Government Accountability Office, numerous federal Offices of Inspector General and the Department of Justice, including its criminal investigative unit.

Holland & Knight's government contracts practice represents a wide range of industries and their interests with state, local, federal and foreign governments. Among the markets in which the firm regularly counsels clients are defense and aerospace, construction, information technology, homeland security, manufacturing, professional services, healthcare, real estate and environmental remediation.
