Holland & Knight Honored for Role in Latin Lawyer’s Project Finance Deal of the Year

NEW YORK (March 27, 2017) – Holland & Knight was recognized by Latin Lawyer magazine for its advisory role in the financing of Colombia’s Pacifico 3 toll road project, a transaction that was named Deal of the Year in the category of public finance. The awards were announced at Latin Lawyer’s 11th Annual Latin Lawyer Deal of the Year Awards in São Paulo on Mar. 23.

Each year, Latin Lawyer offers awards to general counsel and law firms advising on the most significant deals of the year across Latin America. Winners are selected from nominations in the categories of mergers and acquisitions, project finance, corporate finance, disputes, restructuring, private equity and regulatory matters.

A team of Holland & Knight attorneys led by New York-based partner Norberto Quintana advised Financiera de Desarrollo Nacional (FDN), Colombia's infrastructure development bank, to structure a secured credit enhancement line of credit for the toll road project. Mr. Quintana was assisted by partner Enrique Gómez-Pinzón, associates Juliana Saa and Lucas Saffon in the firm’s Bogotá office, and foreign visiting attorney Mariana Guzian in the Miami office.

The Pacífico 3 project entails work on a 146-km stretch of highway in the Antioquia department of Colombia that is scheduled to take five years at a cost of more than $850 million. The final financial structure, arranged by Goldman Sachs, includes seven tranches of secured debt. The financing was one of the first international project bonds in Colombia.
