Holland & Knight Named Top Bond Counsel in Georgia for 2015
The firm was also ranked seventh in the Southeast by The Bond Buyer
ATLANTA (March 7, 2016) – Holland & Knight was named the #1 bond counsel firm in Georgia in 2015, according to The Bond Buyer, the industry’s daily trade publication. According to the newspaper, the firm handled transactions valued at more than $1.6 billion over the course of the year.
Holland & Knight also earned a spot in the Top 10 Southeast regional rankings, placing seventh for work done in 2015. The firm handled transactions valued at more than $2.5 billion during that time period.
The Holland & Knight team, led by Atlanta-based partner Woody Vaughan, served as bond counsel to a number of issuers and private companies. The transactions involved not only traditional governmental, transportation, utilities and education issuances, but also innovative economic development projects in and around Atlanta, Ga.
Overall, 2015 was a good year for the public finance sector, with much of the activity coming from issuances related to public facilities and utilities.
“The market remained strong for tax-exempt bonds, with historically low interest rates continuing throughout the year,” Mr. Vaughan said. “The early signs for 2016 are very positive as well. We are seeing an increased flow of complex quasi public-private partnerships for large real estate developments, which is a good sign for the economy.”
Holland & Knight’s strong real estate practice coupled with its leading public finance practice has positioned the firm well to work on some very exciting projects during 2016, according to Mr. Vaughan.
