Holland & Knight's Trish Rich Ranked Among Illinois' Top Lawyers Under 40

Chicago Ill. (October 13, 2017) –  Holland & Knight litigator Trisha Rich has been named one of “40 Illinois Attorneys Under 40 to Watch” for 2017 by Law Bulletin Media, publisher of the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin and Chicago Lawyer

The list’s honorees were determined based upon a survey in which Illinois attorneys nominate legal “up and comers” across the state. This year, more than 1,500 nominations were received. Winners were announced at a reception in Chicago on October 5.

In nominations submitted by her peers, Ms. Rich was commended for her “string of successful results in commercial litigation” on behalf of her clients and for “making her mark across the broader professional community by shaping the way the law is practiced.” In selecting her for this honor, Law Bulletin editors noted that Ms. Rich is widely viewed as an expert in the field of legal ethics. She teaches legal ethics and professional responsibility as an adjunct professor at Northwestern University School of Law.

“Trish is an outstanding litigator and a deeply dedicated attorney,” said Steven Elrod, executive partner of Holland & Knight’s Chicago office.  “Beyond her skills as an attorney, what impresses me most about Trish is her dedication to the legal profession and to her community.”

The editors also cite Ms. Rich’s reputation as “one of the most devoted providers of pro bono work in the city,” having contributed more than 2,250 pro bono hours to various clients in need. Ms. Rich is the founder and coordinator of the Attorney Defense Initiative, the first privately sponsored pro bono initiative in the nation to focus on assisting impaired lawyers facing disciplinary charges. Earlier this year, the Chicago Bar Association and Chicago Bar Foundation recognized Ms. Rich’s commitment to pro bono work by honoring her with the prestigious Maurice Weigle Exceptional Young Lawyer Award.
