Not Just A Government Town: How Northern Virginia Is Reinventing Itself

Northern Virginia's economy is on the upswing as its industrial base continues to diversify from mostly government contracting to also include private-sector growth. Mergers and acquisitions attorney Adam August weighed in on what's spurring the economy.

"Since Northern Virginia already enjoys established infrastructure, it is well-positioned to take advantage of the overall economy's acceleration," said Mr. August. "The amount of office space, property under development as residential and mixed-use, investment in infrastructure, established and respected laws and court systems, savvy investors/capital providers, and the lawyers, accountants, investment bankers and other professionals who serve them, all make Northern Virginia the place to be for the foreseeable future."
