On March 31, 2015, a federal court ruled that the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance can no longer enforce the state constitution’s prohibition on corporate contributions. While a challenge based on First Amendment grounds was rejected, the corporate ban was ultimately struck down by U.S. District Judge Gregory F. Van Tatenhove under an equal protection analysis - the contribution ban prohibited corporate contributions while allowing LLC and labor union contributions.

The case is Protect My Check, Inc. v. Dilger.
