Holland & Knight Adds Corporate Partner Peter Baumgaertner in New York

NEW YORK (February 8, 2019) – Holland & Knight announced today that Peter Baumgaertner has joined Holland & Knight as a partner in the firm's New York office. Mr. Baumgaertner practices in the areas of finance, project finance and capital markets. A significant portion of his practice is focused on Latin America. Joining the firm with him are Senior Counsels Daniel Brown and Frank Vivero. All were formerly with Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pitman in New York, where Mr. Baumgaertner led the New York corporate team and was head of the firm's Latin America practice.

Mr. Baumgaertner has spearheaded precedent-setting capital markets, project financing, restructuring, public-private partnerships and public finance transactions for a global clientele. He has served as bond counsel and represents numerous underwriters in connection with tax-exempt bond financings for corporate borrowers and local governments throughout the United States. He also advises financial institutions and borrowers across Latin America with respect to capital markets and lending transactions. In addition, Mr. Baumgaertner counsels financial institutions and other creditors in connection with insolvencies and restructurings for corporate borrowers in Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Mexico. He has been recognized by Latinvex as one of "Latin America's Top 100 Lawyers."

Mr. Brown advises clients in the energy and infrastructure sectors with respect to mergers and acquisitions, financings, capital markets issuances, project development, construction and corporate law matters throughout North and South America. He has more than 30 years of experience representing regulated utilities, independent project developers, investors, governmental authorities, underwriters and other financing providers and agents. He focuses on projects all along the energy spectrum and is deeply involved in renewable projects.

Mr. Vivero has a broad financial and corporate practice, including the areas of public and private securities offerings and corporate governance for foreign and domestic issuers. He has extensive banking, agricultural, retail, technology and telecommunications industry experience and regularly represents issuers and investment banks in a full range of debt and equity offerings, particularly in Latin America. He has advised businesses and international investment banks in significant transactions throughout the United States, Asia and Latin America.

Mr. Baumgaertner received J.D. and B.A. degrees from Washington and Lee University. Mr. Brown received a J.D. degree from Cornell Law School and a B.A. degree from Union College, and Mr. Vivero received a J.D. degree from New York University Law School, an MBA degree from Tulane University and a B.A. degree from Loyola University New Orleans.
