Holland & Knight Announces New Partners

MIAMI – December 17, 2009 Steven Sonberg, managing partner of Holland & Knight, announced today that 14 attorneys in the firm have been elected to partnership effective January 1, 2010. Nine associates and five senior counsels in various offices throughout the firm were elevated. They are:

 


Chicago
Associates elevated to partnership:

  • Christopher Carmichael, a member of the firm's Litigation section, primarily handles business disputes and appeals. He received his B.A., with distinction, in history from Loyola University Chicago and his J.D., with honors, from DePaul University College of Law.
  • Lisa Ellis, a member of the firm's Litigation section, focuses her practice on product liability and general negligence issues. She received a B.A. in journalism from Indiana University and her J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. 

Senior Counsel elevated to partnership:

 

  • Jonathan Furr, practices in the areas of state and local government contracting, education and state advocacy. He received his B.A., cum laude, in architecture and history from Washington University in St. Louis, a Master of Urban Planning from University of Michigan, Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning and his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School.
 
Miami

Associate elevated to partnership:

 

  • Nichole Fitzgerald, a member of the firm's Private Wealth Services group, focuses her practice in wealth preservation and estate planning. She received a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of Miami and her J.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Law.
 
Orlando

Associate elevated to partnership:

  • Wiley Boston, a member of the firm's Real Estate practice group, focuses his practices in the area of commercial real estate law, with particular emphasis on leasing of industrial, office and retail properties. He received his B.S., magna cum laude, in finance from Florida State University and his J.D. from Duke University School of Law.
New York

Associates elevated to partnership:

  • Robert Burns, a member of the firm's Litigation section, focuses his practice on antitrust, product-liability and insurance actions. He received his B.A., cum laude, in political science from Boston College and his J.D., magna cum laude, from Fordham University School of Law.
  • Brian Corrigan, a member of the Private Wealth Services group, practices in the areas of probate and fiduciary litigation and matrimonial and family law. He received his B.A., cum laude, in English from Providence College and his J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law.
  • Christopher Nolan, a member of the firm's Litigation section, focuses his practice in a wide variety of commercial disputes in both federal and state court as well as in domestic and international arbitration. He received his B.A., cum laude, from Binghamton University and his J.D., cum laude, from Hofstra University School of Law.

Senior Counsel elevated to partnership:

  • Judith R. Nemsick, a member of the firm's Litigation section, focuses her practice on aviation, mass disasters, product liability, privacy rights and insurance. She received her B.A., magna cum laude, from Boston College and her J.D.from St. John’s University School of Law.
  • Michael G. Di Paolo, a member of the firm's Litigation section, practices in construction law and litigation with an emphasis in the area of contract negotiations and drafting, advising clients on contract interpretation and administration. He received his B.S. in civil engineering from The George Washington University and his J.D., cum laude, from St. John’s University School of Law.
  • James Power, practices in the areas of international law, admiralty law, transportation law, environmental law, public law and general civil litigation. He received his B.S. in marine engineering from the United States Merchant Marine Academy and his J.D., cum laude, from St. John’s University School of Law.

Senior Counsel elevated to partnership:

  • Nathan "Nate" Adams, IV, a member of the firm's Litigation section, practices in the areas of appellate and general litigation with special emphasis on religious and educational institutions. He received his B.A., magna cum laude, in political science from Wheaton College, a Ph.D. in international political economy, with honors and his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Texas School of Law.
Tampa

Associates elevated to partnership:

  • Michael Mills, practices in the areas of corporate law, securities, mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance. He received a B.A. and B.S., with highest honors, in economics and management from University of Florida, an LL.M. in taxation from New York University and his J.D. from the University of Florida College of Law.
Washington, D.C.

Associates elevated to partnership:

  • Kwamina Williford, a member of the firm's Compliance Services team, practices in the areas of contract dispute, statutory violations and alcohol licensing. She received her B.A. from the University of Virginia and her J.D. from Cornell Law School.
